The main objective of the NDS Rumen Fill Model is to provide an evaluation tool to monitor the expected dry matter intake of the cows, from which an estimate of the allowed milk production is derived. Our goal was to utilize more recent definitions of fiber fractions, degradability, and passage and to estimate how rumen fill and consequently intake and milk yield could be affected every time changes are implemented in a specific diet.
